“Hooked On
Jesus” Tournament Trail Begins for Family Fishing
May 11, 2007
Columbus: The
First Annual “Hooked on Jesus” Tournament Trail started its season
last Saturday May 5, 2007, at Alum Creek Lake. John Norris,
Tournament Director, was running the show at the ramp early that
morning with fresh brewed coffee and bottled water. Twenty-one (21)
boats registered for the tournament with combinations of
husband/wife, adult/junior and male/female teams.
The tournament
ran from 7:00AM until 12:00 noon, however many teams came in early
due to the spring downpour that started about 11:30AM. But the
weather did not affect the amount of fish that were caught and
weighed. Over half of the teams weighed fish with the top prize
going to Jeff and Belinda Melsop with 8.37 lbs total weight. Tommy
and Janet Tucker came in second with 6.67 lbs and they also had big
bass at 4.00 lbs. Third place went to Ray and Ramona Patts with 3.78
lbs and 4th place went to Scotie and Margarita McClain
with 3.03 lbs.
During and
after the weigh-in, all participants enjoyed a pot luck that was
sponsored by the “Hooked on Jesus” Tournament Trail, Buckeye
Outdoors and many other sponsors and participants. Hot dogs, with
the best coney sauce I have ever eaten, were served with chips,
baked beans and cookies. Tea and Lemonade were also available. Even
in the pouring rain, huddling under 3 tents, the atmosphere of good
food, good fishing and good friends made the day.
The next stop
on this tournament trail is Buckeye Lake on Saturday, June 9,
2007 at the Liebs Island ramp. Hope to see all of you there
with your family and/or friends and bring your own chairs.
I
would like to take time to say Thank you God for a very Bless day
and to you Lord for keeping everyone safe that day. I would also
like to say thanks to all the Husband's and wife’s and the father's
and mother's that took time out of their day to spend time with each
other and build relationships. Thank you to all the people that
brought the cookies and brownies, they were great! And thank you to
all the people that help that day. A special thank you to all our
Sponsors for their great support. May God Bless and be with you in
the up and coming weeks. See you at Buckeye Lake!
